Upcoming Gita Saturdays for this summer:
June 15th
July 13th
August 3rd
We are starting a new monthly program this summer.
Due to the recent surge in new visitors, particularly on weekends, we are excited to introduce a program tailored to their interests. This initiative will delve into the wisdom of the Bhagavad-Gita, the chanting of Krishna’s names and offer opportunities for voluntary service in devotion to Krishna. By exploring spiritual growth and selfless action, we aim to create a meaningful experience for our guests.
A flexible schedule, from 11:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Our program has flexible components, allowing for a dynamic and adaptable schedule that adjusts to best serve our guests' needs.
The components of our program are as follows:
Kirtan and Japa
Kirtan involves repetitive singing of sacred mantras accompanied by musical instruments like the harmonium, kartals and mridanga. Kirtan helps devotees connect with the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Krishna, fostering a sense of love and devotion.
Japa is a spiritual practice involving the repetitive recitation of a mantra, often softly, to cultivate spiritual growth and self-awareness. Japa helps quiet the mind, concentrating thoughts and calming mental chatter.
The mantra we focus on is the Hare Krishna maha-mantra:
Hare Krishna Hare Krishna
Krishna Krishna Hare Hare
Hare Rama Hare Rama
Rama Rama Hare Hare
Gita Discussions
The Bhagavad Gita, an ancient Indian spiritual text, has been a source of guidance and inspiration for centuries. Its universal message of self-discovery, spiritual growth, and purposeful living continues to resonate with people from all walks of life. Join us for a thought-provoking discussion and reflection on the Bhagavad Gita, as we delve into its timeless wisdom and explore its relevance in our modern lives.
Lunch Prasadam
Prasadam is a vegetarian food offering made to a deity during worship. The offering is considered to be holy and is believed to be efficacious because it has been touched by the deity. We partake of Sri Sri Gaura-Nitai’s prasadam.
As much as possible, we try to cook with locally produced food.
Seva
Seva means "selfless service". It is considered an important spiritual practice and a way to cultivate devotion, compassion, and selflessness. It involves performing acts of service without attachment to personal gain or reward, but rather as an offering to the divine or to benefit others.
