Who is specifically involved in the developments?
The Temple Council, consulting the Saranagati community and Temple congregation, will take the responsibility for the development of this plan.
What are the timelines and the financial plans?
The long-term plan we presented is a 20 to 30 year plan.
Until we elaborate the short and medium-term objectives, it is not possible to present detailed financial plans or timelines.
How will we communicate with the community?
We will hold specific consultation meetings for the development of the short and medium-term objectives.
We will continue to communicate as we have been doing via Sunday Feast announcements, our online presence, and mailing lists.
How does the “future temple hill” fit into this long-term vision?
ISKCON Saranagati is making a plan to fully utilize the property it owns.
The “future temple hill” is owned by SVHI and is not under ISKCON Saranagati’s administration.
How about an apartment for pujaris and having regular worship of Gaura-Nitai (4 offerings a day)?
Great idea! It is definitely needed.
This requires several full-time pujaris, who we cannot currently provide housing for. ISKCON Saranagati will have to acquire more land for that to be possible. We cannot legally build any more permanent residences on the current property.
How about a seasonal café or restaurant?
We still haven't developed a plan for the first floor of the temple building, but, having a commercial kitchen there is definitely a possibility.
How about a plaque with the history of the deities and the temple?
Yes, let’s do it! We have a video recording of Kulashekar Prabhu telling the story in French. We will work on translating it.
How about a new vyasasana for Srila Prabhupada?
It’s in the works! The goal is to do it within a year or two. Anyone who would like to contribute their design and building skills are most welcome.
How about renovating the current outhouse?
If we want to have guest accommodations, we need sufficient lavatory facilities. It is still to be determined if the outhouses will be part of those facilities.
Don’t we need a solar array upgrade?
Definitely! Since January 2022, we have allocated $100 in our monthly budget towards a solar array upgrade.
How about a driveway looping around the temple building, thus creating an entrance and an exit?
That is certainly something to consider when we plan and develop the property.
Shouldn’t we have more presence in surrounding towns?
Undoubtedly.
We already have a small devotee congregation in Kamloops. We need to make a plan to develop the Kamloops congregation, as well as in Ashcroft and Cache Creek.
